Richard Neal has excelled in developing and leading operational, technological, product innovation and market strategy as well as tactical implementations into dozens of international corporations and government entities. His solutions, processes, projects and campaigns remain incorporated across numerous organizations - from start-ups to Fortune500 corporations (representing the verticals of Financial Services, Telecommunications, Consumer Durables, Consumer Services, Multi‐modal Freight, Logistics, Automotive, Technology, Biotechnology, Airlines, Healthcare, Energy, Public Sector, and Real Estate). Currently, Rich is the CIO and Director of Research & Strategy for Temetic Research (www.temeticresearch.com) - an Online Market and Customer Intelligence Company whose keystone offering called PACE is a Social Web Portfolio Management application leveraging next generation Computational Linguistics and Artificial Intelligence.
Mr. Neal cites his “Ikigai” (“ee-ki-guy”) or “something important one lives for” as centered upon his family and his desire to create and optimize – finding invigoration from connecting theory to practice. In line with this focus, he enjoys sharpening his creativity through art (portraiture) and inventing (he has several product prototypes ranging from consumer electronics to biotechnological apparatus). In addition, Richard has refined the process of Enterprise R&D for open innovation and research to follow a “fail fast” methodology – an inclusive fitness-based (ref. natural selection) work cycle used to discover future relevance of opportunities in the shortest exploration timeframe possible.
In late 2010, Rich authored the book Expanding Sentience (ISBN: 978-0-557-72621-9) to elaborate on the wide spread knowledge gaps (and lack of innovation) present with current Marketing and Customer Intelligence derived from online resources. This book has been selected by several Universities in the U.S. and Canada to be used in social media instruction at both the Undergraduate and Graduate level. Additionally, Richard has had numerous articles published in various science, technology and business publications - including his favorite piece (entitled "Advances in Personal Planetariums") on a new breed of Astronomy Instruments for Wired Magazine Editor, Kevin Kelly's Cool Tool Blog.
Professionally, Mr. Neal received honors in both Entrepreneurialism and Innovation from the Kaufmann Foundation and the State of Missouri for his endeavors. In 2010, his work in online social web intelligence via Temetic Research was selected as a finalist in the 1M/1M Global Competition of Growth Stage Business (founded by Sramana Mitra of Forbes and sponsored by IBM). Rich also serves on various Boards or in an Executive Advisor capacity for a handful of Nonprofit Organizations and success-oriented start-ups. When not working, he relishes being a member of the Kansas-Missouri Paleontological Society and volunteer Preparator specializing in Vertebrate Paleontology with a subspecialty interest in Ceratopsidae (think: Triceratops) for the University of Kansas Natural History Museum sponsored by the KU Paleontological Institute.
Rich is an undergraduate alumnus of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s in Psychology, earned a MSc. in Technology with course work in Economics and Biotechnology from the University of Maryland, and holds professional MBA certification from Tulane University.
